On Monday, the federal Small Business Administration released details on thousands of companies it sent money to through the Paycheck Protection Program in an effort to help businesses survive the pandemic.

The program, approved by Congress in March, provides forgivable loans to companies with 500 or fewer employees in an effort to help them keep workers on the payroll they would otherwise have to lay off due to a downturn in business related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nearly 70 Springfield companies received at least $1 million, including prominent names you know and some you may not.

More than 650 companies in Springfield received more than $150,000, including companies familar from local billboards and others that function mostly as holding companies.

At least a few companies that got money appear to be related.
